The Proxima server settings allow you to customize your system for optimal performance and usability. This section covers essential configurations, including user profile settings, display adjustments, network setup, time synchronization, and system management. Follow the instructions below to tailor your server to your specific needs.

Initial Setup

Before Power On

Follow these steps before turning on your Proxima server:

  • Connect at least one video output of the Proxima server to a video projector:
    • Proxima 4020: Use one of the HDMI outputs.
    • Proxima 4040/4060: Use one of the DisplayPort™ or Mini-DisplayPort™ outputs.
  • Connect the Proxima server to your local network.
  • Connect a computer to the same local network.


Power On and Retrieve IP Address

Power on the Proxima server.

When started, the IP address will be displayed on the connected video projectors (top right corner).


Connect to the Server

To access the web administration interface:

  1. Open a web browser on your computer.
  2. Enter the IP address displayed on the video projectors.
  3. Use this default credentials to log in:

Username: « admin »
Password: « admin »



Proxima Composer

The Proxima Composer offers three operational modes to match your workflow:

  • Playback Mode: Designed for automated environments. Ensures maximum stability and allows screens to connect to the server regardless of startup order.
  • Editing Mode: Unlocks the composer interface to create, modify, and manage projects.
  • Maintenance Mode: Temporarily disables the composer, granting full control over all connected screens via the server’s display settings.

My Files

In the Menu Myfiles, drag and drop your media to upload your file

You can organize your media in folders by using the icons on the top right. In this folder tree, you can also upload the software updates. The last software update has a .pxu extension and must be copied in a specific folder named « UPDATE » created at the root of the menu.



Settings

Access the « Settings » menu to configure your Proxima server.


Proxila Display Settings 

Profile Settings

Customize your user experience with these options:

  • Hide dotfiles: Conceal hidden system files (e.g., .config) in the file manager for a cleaner view.
  • Set exact date format: Display the full last-modified date instead of relative time (e.g., "June 15, 2025" instead of "2 days ago").

Select your preferred language and update your password for security.

Click Save to apply your changes.


Display Settings

Adjust each connected display individually:

  • Resolution
  • Refresh rate
  • Color profile


Volume Settings

Control the server's audio output:

  • Set the main volume level.
  • Mute or unmute the audio as needed.


Network

Configure how your server connects to the network:

  • DHCP: Automatically obtain an IP address from your router.
  • Static IP: Manually assign a fixed IP address for consistent network access.


Date and Time

Ensure accurate timekeeping:

  • Enable automatic synchronization with NTP servers.
  • Manually set NTP server addresses if required.
  • Choose the correct time zone for your location.


System

⚠️ WARNING
Do not power off the server during the update process.


Perform critical system actions:

  • Reboot: Restart the server to apply changes or resolve issues.
  • Shutdown: Safely power off the media server.
  • Update: Install system updates using files placed in the « UPDATE » folder.
    Process: Click the update button once, wait for the progress bar to appear, and do not interrupt until completion.

View the current firmware version installed on your server.
