Firmware Update (Online Mode)
This procedure explains how to update the firmware of the AP420 player. This procedure should be used by default.
- Click on System Update and select Online.
- Select the version you want to install. We recommend installing the latest available version. You can read the release notes to learn more about the update.
- Click on Update.
- The firmware is downloading.
- At the end of the download, the power button flashes green to indicate a successful update or red in case of failure.
- The player restarts automatically.
- Wait 2 minutes for the web interface to update. If artifacts appear on the web interface, clear your cache using Ctrl+Shift+R.
Result
Your AP420 player is now updated.
Firmware Update (USB Mode)
This procedure explains how to update the firmware of the AP420 player using a USB device.
- Remove all USB and microSD drives that were inserted for playback.
- Insert a USB drive into the front port with the firmware file
ap4xx-update.swucopied to the root of the USB drive. - Go to
Main Settings > System > System Update > Update. - The firmware is downloading.
- At the end of the download, the power button flashes green to indicate a successful update or red in case of failure.
- The player restarts automatically.
- Wait 2 minutes for the web interface to update. If artifacts appear on the web interface, clear your cache using Ctrl+Shift+R.
Result
Your AP420 player is now updated.
Firmware Update (Recovery Mode)
This procedure explains how to update the firmware of the AP420 player when the player's interface is no longer accessible. This procedure should only be used in exceptional cases.
- Turn off the player.
- Remove any inserted USB and microSD drives.
- Insert a USB drive into the front port with the firmware file
ap4xx-update.swucopied to the root of the USB drive. - Press and hold the power button while turning on the player.
- Hold the power button for more than 10 seconds until the 3 LEDs (green NL, orange NA, and red PA) are continuously lit.
- Release the power button.
- To select the firmware update process, press the power button once (or four times) so that only the green LED (NL) is lit.
- Hold the power button for 3 seconds; the power button flashes white.
- The firmware is downloading.
- At the end of the download, the power button flashes green to indicate a successful update or red in case of failure.
- Press the power button to restart the player.
- Log in to the web interface and clear your cache using Ctrl+Shift+R.
- If you cannot log in, restart the procedure two or three times. We have found that three consecutive updates may be necessary on some players to be fully operational.
Result
Your AP420 player is now updated.
