EVP380 RS-232 Data Modes: Default and Daisy Chain

Modified on Mon, 27 Jul at 4:13 PM

The EVP380 can transmit several types of data over the RS-232 port:

  • Custom Data: Transmitted via the tags [RSSxxx] and [RSExxx] (see the chapter Controlling the Player with Folders and Files).
  • Player Control Data: Retransmitted in "Daisy Chain" mode.

Default Mode

Only data transmitted via the [RSSxxx] and [RSExxx] tags is sent to the Tx output.

Daisy Chain Mode

This mode allows full retransmission of all information received on the Rx line to the Tx line. It is particularly useful for chaining multiple players one after the other.

By connecting the Tx output of the first player to the Rx input of the second, and so on, the information received by the first player on its Rx input is forwarded to the other players in the chain.

To enable this mode, refer to the advanced configuration of the EVP380.

Note
If multiple players are connected in series, a slight delay may appear at the end of the chain.
