Interactivity is one of the strengths of the NanoPlayer Box, allowing you to transform a simple audio broadcast into an engaging user experience. Whether for a museum, an information kiosk, or a point-of-sale display, wiring the trigger input is the step that enables the player to react to its environment.
This guide details how to connect your various sensors and control devices to the dedicated terminal block.
1. Identifying the Trigger Terminal Block
The trigger input is located at the rear of the unit, on a detachable 3.81 mm Phoenix terminal block. It is identified by the marking INPUT and includes three connection points:
- In: The optocoupled signal input.
- G (GND): Ground (common).
- V+ (+12V): A power output to control an external device directly from the player (12V DC power relay).
2. Wiring a Dry Contact (Push Button, Relay)
To trigger playback using a push button or relay output, you must use a so-called "dry contact" configuration.
- Connection: Establish a connection between the In terminal and the ground G.
- Operation: A brief contact (pulse) between these two points is sufficient to trigger the programmed action on your SD card.
- Technical Precision: The player integrates electronic debounce management with a typical duration of 100 ms to avoid erratic triggering.
3. Wiring a Presence Detector (Active Sensor)
The NanoPlayer Box also allows you to connect more complex sensors such as infrared presence detectors, smoke detectors, light sensors, or pressure sensors.
- Sensor Power Supply: If your sensor requires a 12V power supply, you can use the V+ and G terminals of the player to power it.
- Signal: Connect the detector's contact output between the In and G terminals of the NanoPlayer.
4. Associated Software Configuration
Physical wiring is only half the job. The player's behavior when the contact is closed will depend on how your folders are named on the SD card:
- Mode 0 (e.g., Folder 0R0): The contact stops playback of folder 0 to start playback of folder 1.
- Mode 1 (e.g., Folder 0R1): The contact simply triggers playback of the next file within the same folder (making folder 1 unnecessary).
5. Manual Functionality Test
You can test your wiring without any external tools: the volume button on the front of the NanoPlayer Box also serves as a manual trigger. By pressing it, you simulate a contact on the "In" input, allowing you to immediately verify if your file structure and playback configuration are correct.
