NanoPlayer Box Specifications and Pinout: Technical Guide

Modified on Tue, 18 Aug at 4:48 PM

This guide summarizes all the technical data and connector pinouts to help you configure your NanoPlayer Box independently.

Electrical Specifications and Power Supply

The choice of power supply is critical, as it defines the available power for your speakers.

  • Power supply voltage: 12V DC nominal.
  • Tolerance range: 10V to 15V DC (warning: any exceedance may damage the player).
  • Power connector: Standard DC jack with an outer diameter of 5.5 mm and an inner diameter of 2.1 mm.
  • Typical consumption (at 12V):
    • Line output only: approximately 70 mA to 100 mA.
    • Playback with amplifier at maximum (8 Ω load): up to 2A.
  • Recommendation: For full use (maximum amplification and accessories), provide a power supply delivering at least 3.45 A. Insufficient power with speakers will cause sound distortion and power adapter overheating.

Audio Amplifier Specifications

The player integrates a high-performance dual Class D amplifier.

Output TypeLoad (Impedance)Power (THD 1%)Power (THD 10%)
Speakers4 Ω2 x 13 W2 x 16 W
Speakers8 Ω2 x 8 W2 x 10 W
Headphone Output8 Ω2 x 200 mW2 x 325 mW
Headphone Output32 Ω2 x 85 mW2 x 110 mW

  • Volume control: Digital control with 32 steps, simultaneously affecting all outputs (line, speakers, headphones).

Connector Pinout

Rear Panel (Main Connectivity)

  • LINE OUTPUT: 3.5 mm stereo jack (TRS) at line level (unbalanced) for connection to a mixer or external amplifier.
  • INPUT(Trigger input): Removable Phoenix terminal block, 3.81 mm pitch.
    • G (GND): Ground / Common.
    • In: Optocoupled input signal. Triggering is done via a brief dry contact between In and G.
    • V+: +12V DC output (main power supply feed) to power an external sensor (e.g., PIR detector).
    • Technical Note: Debounce time is set to 100 ms.
  • SPEAKERS(Speaker outputs): Two removable Phoenix terminal blocks, 3.81 mm pitch.
    • Left Channel: Terminals L+ and L-.
    • Right Channel: Terminals R+ and R-.

Front Panel (User Interface)

  • HEADPHONE OUTPUTS: Two standard 3.5 mm stereo jack sockets.
  • IR (Infrared Sensor): Compatible with Sony SIRC protocol, 12-bit, 38 kHz carrier for optional remote control.
  • SD Slot: Supports SD/SDHC/SDXC cards formatted in FAT32.

File Formats and Storage Support

  • Supported Formats:
    • MP3 (.mp3): CBR or VBR, from 32 kbit/s to 320 kbit/s, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz.
    • WAV (.wav): LPCM 16-bit, 44.1 kHz. (Note: Broadcast WAV format is not supported).
  • Capacity: Supports up to 2 root folders, each containing a maximum of 999 files.

Physical Characteristics

  • Dimensions: 75 mm (W) x 25 mm (H) x 125 mm (D, including terminal blocks).
  • Weight: 108 g to 110 g.
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to +60°C.
