New microSD cards or USB sticks are usually already formatted as ‘FAT’ or ‘FAT32’.
However, it is recommended that you reformat your microSD card or USB stick. Choose the FAT or FAT32 format depending on the storage capacity. (FAT32 for capacities over 512MB)
Other formatting options will not work.
If you are using a Windows PC, the latest versions do not allow high-capacity storage devices (>32GB) to be formatted using the FAT32 file system. In this case, you will need to obtain a formatting utility. There are all sorts of software programmes available – some free, others paid – which you can easily find online.
