  • Added a new event track for serial communication:
    • serial command frames can be edited in ASCII, with CR/LF code options, or in hexadecimal format;
    • serial command frame colors and comments can be edited;
    • serial command frames can be imported from and exported to a serial.txt file;
    • Show Control .SC3 files can be exported with embedded serial command frames;
    • with the Event Video Player EVP380, serial command frames from the serial.txt file can be previewed in real time over Art-Net.
  • Added Output Contacts and Serial Communication track options to the Project Properties window. These options affect the tracks displayed in the project and the export of .SC2 and .SC3 files.
  • Added the Paste at cursor position function — shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + V.
  • Improved navigation in the Art-Net Settings window.
  • Fixed an issue when Real-time DMX Preview was enabled for a serial port selected in the DMX Interface menu without available Art-Net settings.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented events with a step position greater than 65535 from being copied and pasted.

  • Added a new audio and video playback and decoding engine:
    • projects can be created from MP4, MOV or MKV video files encoded in a wide range of formats;

    • support for VBR (Variable Bit Rate) encoded files;
    • improved waveform duration accuracy.
  • Added a video preview area to the main interface.
  • Added the Use an optimized audio or video working copy option to provide accurate event positioning and smooth playback on systems with limited processing power. Available modes: 720p, 480p, 360p, 240p, 144p, Audio and None.

  • Improved automatic detection of the default project duration in the Audio Track and Project Duration window.
  • Improved change detection in the Undo/Redo history after opening a project whose reference duration or audio track cannot be found.
  • Fixed an issue introduced in version 2.4.0.0 that could corrupt .ps2 project files when saving changes from the prompt displayed when closing the application.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the application to stop when assigning a new reference duration was canceled after opening a project whose reference duration could not be found.

Event editing and selection

  • Replaced the event editing mode with an editing mode based on a selection area:
    • selection across multiple tracks;
    • Delete, Cut, Copy and Paste functions apply to the entire selected area;
    • all selected events can be moved by dragging the selection area header;
    • selected events can be copied by dragging while holding Ctrl;
    • the Paste function is applied from the first step of the selected area;
    • an individual event can be moved by dragging and dropping it;
    • an event can be copied by dragging while holding Ctrl;
    • the selection area can be extended using Shift + left click;
    • Ctrl + A and Ctrl + Shift + A respectively select and deselect all project event tracks;
    • an entire track can be selected from its context menu;
    • left-clicking an event track selects the specified step;
    • the playback cursor is moved only by left-clicking the audio track.
  • Added a function to add an event at the selected step position.
  • Added the Insert Empty Space function on one or more tracks from the beginning of the project, the cursor position, a specified position on a track or the selection area.
  • Added event editing functions to assign a maximum or minimum value, increase or decrease the value and change the progression type of selected events.
  • Changed property editing so that DMX value and progression type changes for selected events are applied separately.
  • Added custom color presets for RGB tracks, saved in the project file.


Interface and operation

  • Project zoom can be controlled with the mouse wheel while holding Ctrl.
  • Added Refresh DMX Interface List to the Options menu.
  • Added Restore Default Settings to the Options menu.
  • Improved real-time DMX preview.
  • Improved settings restoration when opening the application.
  • Improved project state restoration after an Undo/Redo operation.
  • Improved navigation in dialog windows.

  • Projects can be opened even when the reference audio file cannot be found.

  • DMX devices already placed in the DMX channel assignment area of the Patch window can be moved by dragging and dropping them.
  • Added a time ruler to the audio track.

  • Added Play All (Ctrl + Shift + Space) to start playback from the beginning of the project.

  • Associated icons with .ps2 project files and .sc2 Show Control files.
  • Double-clicking a .ps2 file automatically opens the project in Show Control Editor.
  • Added unlimited Undo (Ctrl + Z) / Redo (Ctrl + Y) history.
  • The five most recently used projects can be reopened from the File menu.
  • Changing the language no longer requires restarting the application.

System requirements

  • Microsoft Windows XP SP3 or later, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 — 32-bit or 64-bit.
  • Intel or AMD processor, 1 GHz or faster.
  • 1 GB RAM; 2 GB or more recommended with Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 or 10.
  • 160 MB of disk space for installation.
  • XVGA-compatible graphics card (1024 × 768) or higher. Hardware video decoding is recommended for video use.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or later.
  • Optional with Event Player or Event Player mkII - EP220: Enttec Open DMX USB interface for real-time DMX event preview.


Installation

The installation utility creates the required directories and copies the files required by Show Control Editor to the computer.

  1. Download the Show Control Editor installation utility.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the appropriate version on your computer.


Known issues

  • Problems may occur when playing video files whose size, for example 4K, or encoding, for example H.265, is not supported by the graphics card or system hardware. In this case, use the Use an optimized audio or video working copy option.
  • On Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista, the application will not start correctly unless Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or later is installed.
