Adding master effects on the rendering

editor.isf.videoProxima offers endless possibilities for combining group effects with multimedia content. Among its powerful features are post-processing shaders that act like "filters" affecting the entire rendering. While sequence shaders apply to specific sequences, master shaders stand out as the most versatile - they apply globally to whatever is playing in your output at any time.

Using Master Shaders

What are Master Shaders?

Master Shaders are global effects that apply to your entire rendering. Unlike sequence shaders, they aren't tied to any specific sequence, making them active across all content in your output.

These effects use ISF post-processing shaders, and Proxima includes a built-in library of these powerful tools.

Adding Master Shaders

  1. Open the Master Shaders panel from the toolbar on the right Master Shaders panel icon
  2. Click on the + icon in the header
  3. Select an effect from the shaders library and double-click it or use the "Open" button

Note
You can add as many shaders as you want, including multiple instances of the same effect.

Arranging Master Shaders

The order of shaders in your list matters significantly. Transformations are applied from bottom to top, meaning the shader at the top of the list is applied last and can dramatically change the final result.

By default, new shaders are added to the top, but you can rearrange them anytime by drag and drop.

Experiment with different orders - some shader combinations produce vastly different results depending on their sequence!

Managing Individual Shader Settings

You can temporarily disable any shader using the switch next to its name, which is useful when testing different combinations.

Most shaders include customizable parameters. Click the cog icon next to an effect's name to access and modify these settings. Many parameters can even be animated using variators, just like group effect parameters.

Note
Use the lightning icon lightning_20x28.png (the top right of the parameters panel) to quickly load or save parameters presets.

Managing Global Shader Settings

Above the shaders list, you'll find bulk action buttons. In the settings, you can enable "Clip master shaders overflow" to confine rendering to your drawn shapes, even when shaders create overflow effects.

Note
This option is unchecked by default and your choice is saved with the project file.

Adding Effects to the Library

Beyond the built-in effects, you can add your own custom shaders:

  1. Open the shaders library
  2. Go to the "My Shaders" tab
  3. Browse and import your .fs shader files

My Shaders tab

On players, you can only add Post-Processing ISF shaders with a maximum of 1 input image.

Find shaders on sites like editor.isf.video or create your own!

Note: Always check the license when using shaders found online, even if many are free to use.
