Here are the technical rules for organizing and naming your files to ensure a smooth and autonomous installation.
1. Global Architecture of the Memory Card
The NanoPlayer Box follows a strict hierarchy for data organization:
- Single Level: Only one folder level is allowed from the root of the SD card. Do not use subfolders, as they will not be recognized.
- Number of Folders: The player accepts a maximum of 2 folders at the root.
- Capacity per Folder: Each folder can contain up to 999 files.
2. Folder Naming (The 3-Character Rule)
The name of each folder must strictly consist of 3 mandatory characters following the pattern: DIGIT 1 + LETTER + DIGIT 2 (e.g., 0R1).
- The First Digit (Folder Number):
- 0: The "Autoplay" folder, played automatically in a loop as soon as the player is powered on.
- 1: The trigger folder, activated by a contact on the "In" input (if folder 0 is configured to allow it).
- The Letter (Playback Mode): Defines how files are sequenced (R for Random, S for Sequential, N or T for single-file playback).
- The Last Digit (Trigger Mode): Defines the interaction with the external contact (range jump, retriggering, "While" mode).
3. Audio File Naming
The naming of files within your folders directly depends on the playback mode (the letter) you have chosen for the folder.
Random Mode (Letters R or N)
- Rule: File names are completely free.
- Example:
nature_ambience.mp3,music01.wav.
Note: All files present in the folder will be included in the random playback algorithm.
Sequential Mode (Letters S or T)
- Rule: File names must start with 3 digits to define the ascending playback order.
- Example:
001.mp3,002.mp3,003.wav.
Note: If you mix numbered and unnumbered files in a sequential folder, only the numbered files will be played.
4. Supported File Formats and Types
To avoid any error messages (indicated by a slow blinking LED on the front), ensure you respect the following specifications:
- Formats: MP3 (.mp3) and WAV (.wav).
- MP3 Specifications: Mono or stereo, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, from 32 kbit/s to 320 kbit/s (CBR or VBR).
- WAV Specifications: Mono or stereo, LPCM 16-bit, 44.1 kHz.
- Incompatibility: The Broadcast WAV format is not supported.
Tips for Autonomous Maintenance
- Metadata: Avoid overly large ID3v2.4 tags at the end of files, as they can sometimes generate clicks or parasitic noises during track sequencing.
- Updates: The SD/SDHC card must only be inserted or removed when the player is not powered on.
- Verification: If the LED blinks rapidly (2 times per second), playback is in progress, and your naming is correct. If it blinks slowly, check that your card is not empty and that your folders comply with the required 3-character rule.
