The players can use external audio sources that are not stored on the main storage device (Main Media) or an alternative storage device (Alternate Media). Unlike locally stored audio files, external sources do not support playback controls such as seeking, because their playback depends on processes outside the player.
The following external audio sources are available:
- Internet radio.
- Auxiliary audio input for an analog audio source (My Music Player only).
Internet radio
Purpose
Both players can use internet radio as a primary or secondary audio source, alongside music, messages and announcements played from Main Media.
Supported stream formats
MP3 streams and M3U stream containers.
Playback behavior
The internet radio settings allow you to specify the addresses of the stations you want to play. Playback starts once the stream is sufficiently stable, according to the configured buffer size and stability duration.
The player continuously monitors the stream and switches to a local audio source if the stream is interrupted. Internet radio playback resumes automatically when the stream becomes stable again.
Auxiliary input (My Music Player only)
Purpose
The My Music Player can use an external analog audio source as a primary or secondary audio source, alongside music, messages and announcements played from Main Media.
Playback behavior
The auxiliary input allows you to listen to an external audio source connected to the player's analog stereo audio input. When switching to the auxiliary input, any internal source currently playing is stopped.
