Set the date, time and time zone — My Music Player and My Music Player LE

Modified on Tue, 27 Oct at 5:28 PM

When using the Scheduler function, the player uses its built-in clock to trigger scheduled actions at the specified date and time. The accuracy of the player’s system clock is essential for triggering these actions precisely.

  • Daylight saving time changes are handled automatically using the legal time zones defined for each country.
  • A built-in real-time clock (RTC) and battery maintain the player’s date and time whether the player is powered on or off.
  • The Network Time Protocol (NTP) function maintains a high level of clock accuracy by using the Ethernet network to synchronize the system clock and the built-in clock with external NTP servers.

Note: Time zone rules that have changed since 2012 are not supported. Other time zone rules are supported.

Important — My Music Player only: If the player cannot be connected to the network, or if automatic NTP updates are not possible, the system clock must be calibrated to obtain a high level of clock accuracy.

Set the date and time

Principle

When NTP is not used, these settings allow you to set the player’s clock date and time manually.

Procedure

  1. Disable NTP.
  2. Set the time:
    • Hours, using the 24-hour format: 00 to 23.
    • Minutes: 00 to 59.
    • Seconds: 00 to 59.
  3. Set the date:
    • Year: 2000 to 2037.
    • Month: 01 to 12.
    • Day: 01 to 28, 29, 30 or 31, depending on the month and year.

Methods

MethodProcedure
Advanced menu

Go to ADMINISTRATOR → DATE/TIME:

  1. Set NTP MODE = OFF.
  2. Under TIME, set the hours (00 to 23), minutes (00 to 59) and seconds (00 to 59).
  3. Under DATE, set the day (01 to 31), month (01 to 12) and year (2000 to 2037).
Web browser

On the Administrator page:

  1. Set NTP synchronization = Off.
  2. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
  3. Under Change Date/Time:
    1. Under Date, set Year (2000 to 2037), Month (01 to 12) and Day (01 to 31).
    2. Under Time, set the hours (00 to 23), minutes (00 to 59) and seconds (00 to 59).
    3. Click Save.

Set the time zone

Principle

This setting defines the legal time zone used to automatically manage the start and end of daylight saving time.

Procedure

Select the settings that define the geographical rule: world area, country and region.

  • The available world areas are Africa (AFR), America (AME), Antarctica (ANT), Arctic (ARC), Asia (ASI), Atlantic (ATL), Australia (AUS), Europe (EUR), Indian (IND) and Pacific (PAC).
  • The list of countries depends on the selected world area.
  • The list of regions depends on the selected country and world area. This setting is available only when the selected country has multiple regional rules.

Methods

MethodProcedure
Advanced menuGo to ADMINISTRATOR → DATE/TIME → TIME ZONE, then select the abbreviated world area, country and region.
Web browserOn the Administrator page, go to Change Date/Time, select the corresponding World Area/Country/Region and click Save.

Configure Network Time Protocol (NTP)

Principle

This setting enables or disables NTP when the player is connected to the network.

Procedure

Enable or disable the NTP function.

Methods

MethodProcedure
Advanced menuGo to ADMINISTRATOR → DATE/TIME → NTP MODE. Select NTP MODE = OFF to disable NTP or NTP MODE = ON to enable it.
Web browserOn the Administrator page, select NTP synchronization = Off to disable NTP or NTP synchronization = On to enable it. Under NTP server 1, NTP server 2, NTP server 3 and NTP server 4, define one to four NTP server addresses. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
